District Permits and Review
The District has oversight and authority to review all development within the District for compliance with District standards and to verify it can serve the proposed development. District staff regularly coordinates with County of Santa Barbara Building and Safety staff for procesing County building permits.
Accessory dwelling units, renovations, and exterior improvmeents such as pools, or other auxillary structures, require a District permit. Upon initial submittal to the County Building and Safety, the District can provide a Sewer Service Availability letter to confirm the District can provide service for the proposed development. Once a building permit is applied for, the District will provide a letter outlining the District's requirements to comply with current standards, which may require any necessary repairs to existing sewer laterals to bring the condition up to an acceptable level . All sewer lateral repair and installation work, as well as new connections, require a District permit and all District fees must be paid prior to issuance of a permit.
